Acute GP service

Patients with suspected cauda equina should be assessed as an emergency.

 

Older patients where there is a potential for metastatic cancer can be admitted to medicine which is accessed via the Acute GP Service.

Younger patients with little potential for metastatic cancer (ie possible emergency neurosurgical candidates) are seen via the Cauda Equina Pathway and are admitted directly to the emergency department.
